Vizit Korea 2013, a Korea Festival held at Singapore Expo from 25 - 27th of October 2013 ended successfully. It features a variety of Korean products and brands set amidst a thematic backdrop with experiential activities including cooking demonstrations,  food sampling, hair styling and makeover sessions, K-Pop contests, complimented by entertaining stage programmes. The highlight of the event was definitely the special appearance of the Kpop artistes. A-PINK, NU'EST, A-JAX, actor Song Dong-il and actress Lee Chae-young & Lee Yu-ri paid Singapore a vizit to promote Korea.

On the 25th October 2013, A-PINK, NU'EST, Song Dong-Il and Lee Chae-young have attended the opening ceremony and press conference of Vizit Korea 2013. NU'EST and A-PINK was asked whether which place they would recommend for people to vizit when they are touring in Korea. Aron recommended Dong Dae Mun as it is a place where you can shop and have fun in Korea while A-PINK suggested Jeju Island, the biggest island of Korea.

When they were asked whether who is the member who have the best variety skill, A-PINK chose Eunji while NU'EST chose Ren. The crowd then challenged A-PINK a question, asking whether will they try to go for a sexy concept in the future. Eunji responded that they are happy with the cute concept they are working hard on now and it suits them the best.

Question for Lee Chae-young was whether which one does she feel more comfortable, modeling or acting? As professional as she is, Chae-young chose both of it but she would love to improve as an actress and focus on acting more. I'm sure fans of Lee Chae-young can expect a better film or drama from her soon.

Song Dong-il in the other hand brought his family alongside with him to Singapore. He was happy and introduced his son, Song Joon, to the massive crowd. The shy boy stood up and waved to the crowd with his little sister by his side. When the actor was asked whether will he consider to film an episode of "Appa Eodi Ga?" in Singapore, he jokingly replied that he won't be coming back if Singapore doesn't support Kpop.

NU'EST released their new album called "Sleep Talking" not long ago and was asked which song they personally prefer in the album. Aron said he like "Beautiful Girl", and so does Baekho. JR in the other hand prefer "Pretty". Both of the songs are different in their own ways and heart capturing.
The press conference ended with a photo taking session of the Kpop artistes.

Lee Chae-young surprised her fans by hitting the stage as the co-host of the day, introducing NU'EST on stage to perform their new titled song "Sleep Talking". To further promote Korea, NU'EST wore a shirt with the word KOREA and a South Korean flag on it rather than their usual stage outfit. The shirts are available at the venue too. NU'EST with Love in Singapore showcase was scheduled to be on 26th October 2013.

After a powerful performance from NU'EST, the beautiful girls, A-PINK stormed on stage with roaring fans on the floor. Pink Pandas have been struggling to land their hands on the mosh pit tickets. They cheered as loud as they could when A-PINK walked on stage with smiley faces all the way. A-PINK performed a total of 7 songs excluding encore. They are "I Don't Know", "BUBIBU", "MY MY", "U You", "Lovely Day", "Like A Dream", "No No No" and encore song "April 19".

During the Q&A session with A-PINK, the girls have to decide which member is the most popular. Bomi was chosen first as her name was on the first fanboard they saw as soon as they reach Singapore. Naeun chose Hayoung because she thinks that Hayoung is very feminine. Bomi chose Naeun because Naeun is glamorous and you will fall in love with her easily. The event organizers have prepared a total of 6 questions sent in by fans beforehand. Eunji said she likes Chilli Crab a lot while Bomi wants to spend a day at Merlion Park. Namjoo is in love with the Marina Bay Sand swimming pool and would love to learn how to swim. Chorong praised Pink Pandas and said that they are very passionate.

A-PINK also prepared a few gifts for fans. Lucky draw winners were called on stage to take their autographed A-PINK album and also a group photo with the girls. The girls were more than happy to give out hugs too, how sweet. A-PINK has definitely gave Pink Pandas the most memorable gift. After a wonderful and beautiful performance from the girls, A-PINK took a big group photo with the crowd before saying goodbye.

What is ‘GWIYOMI’ wave ?

After “Gangnam Style” and “Harlem Shake” taken over the world by storm, it seems like people are never going to get enough of the dancing craze as yet another dance move has gone viral on the web.

According to our source, the new dance craze, the “Gwiyomi Player”, has recently become the latest web-viral sensation among Thai teenagers. “Gwiyomi” translated into English means someone who is cute hence the new dance craze literally means “cute player”.

The internet meme is originated from Korean boy band Btob’s member Jung Ilhoon who created a series of hand movements accompanying the song “Gwiyomi Song”. The song was sung by Korean female artist HARI which describes the love of a girl and a boy.

The dance is also called as “1+1=Gwiyomi” and many Kpop stars including EXO K’s Sehun, Miss A’s Suzy, Girls’ Generation’s Soo Young, Infinite’s Sung Kyu, SISTAR’s Soyou and more have jumped into the trend and garnered a lot of attention from the teenage fans especially overseas fans.

Many have uploaded videos of themselves doing the 50-second dance routine on the YouTube social network and a Thai netizen commented“Goodbye Harlem Shake, Hello Kiyomi.” Another poster wrote “It’s the new Gangnam Style.”
Not sure how you can do it? Here’s a ”Gwiyomi Player” demonstrated by Korea artist.

30 September 2013

Trainees who dream of becoming a star spend day and night singing and dancing—their biggest goal is to make a ‘debut’. However, even after a successful debut, in the South Korean music market where tens of new groups are born every year, winning the hearts of the public as a true artist is practically impossible. No one can predict who will be successful, and there is no set formula for it either. Even YG Entertainment, the entertainment agency which produced BIGBANG and 2NE1, groups which each respectively brought about a paradigm shift in the music world in 2006 with its borderless popularity and changed the entire perception of girl groups, has not debuted a new group for the last 4 years. And the exact agency, YG, has returned finally in 2013 with the first boy group in 8 years since BIGBANG’s debut, named ‘WINNER’. But the members of the boy group has not been confirmed yet, as YG’s next boy group formation will be determined on a real survival battle program called ‘WHO IS NEXT : WIN’ where only the real surviving team can seize the name ‘WINNER’ to make a debut. This is a real test to see who can remain alive in the dog-eat-dog pop music market. The most important aspect of this program is that the fait of ‘WINNER’ is dependent on the viewers. Even the founder of YG, YANG HYUN SUK, will only be giving brief advice to the contestants. He boldly chose to let the viewers decide completely to see who the true ‘WINNER’ is. ‘WIN’, which allows the public to participate even before a new group is formed properly, will create a battlefield for the 11 members who have been training at YG for a long time. The boys will be divided into Teams A and B for a fierce fight.

Team A, which consists of KANG SEUNG YOON, the recently debuted ex-contestant of Mnet’s Superstar K2 and LEE SEUNG HOON, the ex-contestant of K-Pop Star, have 5 members in total with the average age of 20. Team B has 6 members with the average age of 17, with the then boy rapper B.I. who featured in MC Mong’s ‘Indian Boy’ and Koo Jun Hoe, another ex-contestant of K-Pop Star.
The final winning team will seize the name ‘WINNER’ to make a debut immediately after the program finishes, while the losing team’s debut will be postponed indefinitely. ‘WIN’, a program that is to show the harsh and cold reality of the professional world, will depend completely on the viewers’ decision to choose the winning team. The battle program will keep everyone on their toes, as even YG will not find out the winner until the very end.

How the Program is Run
WIN’ is not an auditioning program with judges, but is a 100% real survival battle program where the viewers decide the final winner. From episodes 1 to 10, there will be 3 battles in total, and along with YG’s founder YANG HYUN SUK, other YG artists, producers and special guests will be participating in the process of the competition.

Online and mobile advance voting will be available from episodes that the battle begins, and the final battle, which is aired live, will allow viewers to use live text message voting system. The final winner is determined based on the tally from online/mobile advance voting and live text message voting combined. Further details on the voting method and dates will be announced later.

WIN Airing Information
In South Korea, the program will be aired every Friday on a relay on two different channels, at 10 p.m. on Mnet and 11:20 p.m. on tvN. The first episode will be aired at 10 p.m. on August 23 (Friday). The program consists of 10 episodes. The show will be broadcasted simultaneously on portal sites like Daum’s mobile webpage, also showing happenings of behind-the-scenes.

The program will be aired overseas beginning from September 17, through channel V (part of the cable channels of START TV) and channel M (part of the cable channels of FOX) in 10 countries including Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Myanmar, the Maldives, and Macau. In China, the largest video-sharing website Youku will exclusively air the program.

YG is negotiating with Arirang TV to air the show beyond Asia in 188 countries from mid September. Arirang TV will provide subtitle services including English, Spanish, Chinese, and Indonesian. The entertainment agency is also in the midst of negotiation with various national television in the Asian region and their cable channels. As seen from the effort, YG is preparing in earnest to show ‘WIN’ to a wider audience around the world.

Last weekend was a blast for me celebrating my weekend with the presence of Big Star, a youthful and extraordinary Kpop boy group all the way from South Korea, performing at Pavilion for Inspiring KOREA Festival on 21st and 22nd September 2013, 6PM. It marked the first visit of Big Star to Malaysia. Members of Big Star are Feeldog (leader), Sunghak, Raehwan, Baram and Jude (maknae).

Feeldog

Baram

The boys sang 5 of their songs which included "Hot Boy", "Think", "I Got The Feeling", "Baby Girl" and also their latest comeback song "Run And Run". Big Star was here at Pavilion during the 6PM session of Inspiring KOREA Festival called Hang Out With Big Star.

Baram, Jude and Raehwan

Besides singing their hit songs, the cute boys called fans up on stage to play traditional Korean games with them and also introduced their own hometown to the fans to promote Korea tourism. Big Star's fan service was over the line as they get fans roaring in the crowd with their flying kisses, winks and heart-sign throwing. The boys was amazed to see such large crowd.

Sunghak

Big Star initiated a chaos during the end of the second day performance by going down stage to shake hands with their fans. To show fans how much they appreciate them, Big Star have learned a few sweet greetings in Malay and was eager to show it off to their fans. "Selamat Petang", "Terima Kasih", "Saya Cinta Kamu", "Saya Tunggu Kamu" sounds so cute coming out from the Korean heart-throbs. They even sang "Rasa Sayang" to the crowd for 3 times straight!
