JENNIFER HUDSON AND B.O.B TO PERFORM AT MTV WORLD STAGE MALAYSIA ON 16 AUGUST 2014

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, 17 JULY 2014 – MTV, a unit of Viacom Inc. (NASDAQ: VIAB, VIA), today announced via its various social media channels in Asia, the addition of Grammy® Award-winner, as well as Academy Award and Golden Globe winning actress, Jennifer Hudson, and award-winning Billboard Hot 100 hip hop artist, singer-songwriter and record producer, B.o.B to its line-up of performers for MTV World Stage Malaysia 2014. The show, which will mark its 6th year in Malaysia, currently includes homegrown international singer-songwriter, Yuna; and Universal Music Group International’s first K-pop idol group, Boys Republic.
Recorded live for global telecast, the one-night-only outdoor concert is set to take place at Surf Beach, Sunway Lagoon on Saturday, 16 August 2014. The show premieres on-air Wednesday, 20 August at 6.30pm (WIB), 7.30pm (SG) and 8.30pm (MAL) and repeats on the same day at 10pm (WIB), 11pm (SG/PH) and 12am (MAL). Viewers are advised to check local listings in other markets.
Both Jennifer Hudson and B.o.B are no strangers to MTV as they have both performed at the MTV VMAs, while B.o.B has also performed at MTV EMAs.
MTV World Stage Malaysia 2014 will be Hudson’s first visit to Asia. Most recently, she released 2 singles – “I Can’t Describe (The Way I Feel)” (features T.I.) with production by Pharrell, and “Walk It Out” (features Timbaland), where the latter continues to climb the Urban AC and Urban main radio charts in the U.S.. Her highly anticipated new album, JHUD, will be Hudson’s third studio album and is scheduled to be released in 2014. Hudson has described the album as more “upbeat” than her previous material, while showcasing different expressions of herself as an artist, a girl and a music lover. For the album, she has worked with Timbaland, Pharrell Williams, RedOne, R.Kelly and others.
MTV World Stage Malaysia 2014 welcomes B.o.B’s return performance in Asia, since he was last in the region in 2012. B.o.B was also selected to be an MTV International Push Artist in 2010 and has gone onto top Billboard and International charts over the past four years. B.o.B is already planning a major world tour for 2014, to come in the aftermath of Underground Luxury’s December 17 release. Additional producers and guests on the LP include T.I., 2 Chainz, Juicy J, DJ Mustard and Chris Brown.

Jennifer Hudson
The Chicago-born and -based singer came from a big singing family background, where she grew up in the choir. At age 7, she already knew the dream she was going to pursue.
Hudson rose to fame in 2004 as a finalist on the third season of American idol and there has been no turning back. As an actress, she starred in her film debut, “Dreamgirls” with Beyonce, for which she gained worldwide acclaim and garnered 29 awards in 2006, including the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress and a Golden Globe. She also appeared in other films like “Sex and the City” and “Winnie Mandela”.
As a singer, Hudson won her first Grammy Award for her debut album, Jennifer Hudson in 2008, which peaked at number two on the Billboard albums chart. The album spawned the hit single “Spotlight”, which also topped the Billboard Hot R&B/ Hip-hop chart in 2008, and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), with sales exceeding a million copies worldwide. Hudson was nominated for four categories and won the Grammy Awards for Best R&B Album in 2008.
Hudson has performed at the Super Bowl XLIII, the Grammy Awards, The Oprah Winfrey Show and at the White House.
Her second album, I Remember Me was released in 2011, with three tracks co-produced by Alicia Keys, was then seen as a new introduction of Hudson. . It was placed at number two on the Billboard Aabums charts and was certified gold by RIAA, producing the hit, “Where You At”. By February 2012, Hudson had sold over 1.28 million albums and 2.23 million singles in the U.S. In 2013, she was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
B.o.B
Born in Georgia, B.o.B a.k.a. Bobby Ray Simmons Jr., was convinced by his brother to begin rapping at the age of ten, after they heard DMX’s debut “It’s Dark” and “Hell Iz Hot”. B.o.B mimicked his idol with his early raps before developing his own style as a teenager. By 15, B.o.B trained himself to play the piano and at 19, he taught himself how to play the guitar, a hallmark of his live performances.
After making his introduction onto the mixtape circuit in 2007, B.o.B gained his first pieces of national exposure and acclaim appearing on MTV News’ “Mixtape Monday” as well as XXL Magazine’s coveted Freshman cover which highlighted raps top rookies of the year. The following year, Bob officially joined his friend and mentor T.I.’s Grand Hustle Records.
Under his mentor’s tutelage, B.o.B quickly rose to fame after his debut studio album, “The Adventures of Bobby Ray” was released in April 2010. The album reached number one on the U.S. Top 200 album charts and was eventually certified gold by the RIAA. The album also spawned the multi-platinum, career cornerstone singles like “Nothing on You” (features Bruno Mars) – reached number one in both the United States and the United Kingdom, “Airplanes” (features Hayley Paramore of Paramore) – topped several music charts, and “Magic” became his third top ten hit on the Billboard Hot 100. In the summer of 2010, B.o.B opened for Jay Z and Eminem’s historic “Home & Home” stadium tour. Later that year B.o.B was named the ninth “Hottest MC in the Game of 2010” by MTV, on MTV’s annual list.
B.o.B released his second studio album, “Strange Clouds” (2012), which not only debuted at number five on the Billboard 200, but spawned six singles, four of which charted exceptionally well internationally. The album’s lead single “Strange Clouds (features Lil Wayne)” became his fourth top ten hit on the Billboard Hot 100. “So Good” and “Both of Us (features Taylor Swift),” all certified as Platinum by RIAA.
